Asphalt Plant back to low-sulphur diesel
The Asphalt Plant situation has been resolved! The contractor of the plant has been able to get a supply of ultra-low sulphur diesel and has switched operations back to diesel. From what they have been told, this supply of diesel should hold until the end of construction season. Thanks to all who spoke out and helped to bring attention to this issue.
Read the October 24 Calgary Herald article about the resolution.

The portable Asphalt Plant for Stoney Trail was in the news because they had resumed using recycled oil due to the diesel shortage in Alberta.

Summer Block Parties a Success
Rocky Ridge Royal Oak Community Association (RRROCA) sponsored eight block parties this summer – and they were each a big hit. From brand new block parties to parties that were on their fifth consecutive year, each gathering added to the sense of community on their streets by getting neighbours out spending time together. The RRROCA supported our party hosts with a Block Party Boot Camp that included ideas and preparation, and with a spot in the Suburban Journal to get the word out on places and times.

Thanks to the generous support of Alderman Dale Hodges, we distributed $1,000 between the block parties to help cover party costs. Some of the parties  took Recreation Program Specialist Jen Gristwood up on her offer of free equipment bag rentals from the City of Calgary. Thanks to Alderman Hodges, Ms. Gristwood, and especially to our party hosts for all they did to make these block parties great.

Make sure to keep an eye on the Suburban Journal next year for your chance to host a RRROCA block party on your street.

Civic Amenities Development
